ceramic or metallic brake pads??

Postby Sheovis » Mon Jan 21, 2019 2:40 am

Napa auto parts is my local hangout being a lemon racer and they were going to give me some pads . They only got to last 400-600 miles
they offer a non ferrous ceramic and a metallic pad like this
pros and cons please
I was thinking if the pads don't work too good might be an advantage on coming in the corners faster

If you're looking at any performance or racing application, semi-metallic is the only way to go.

What brakes and calipers do you have on your car?

Both are good. It will just depend on your needs and driving style. Semi-metallic pads can provide more braking power but they dust a lot. My car has ceramics that I bought at 4wheelonline. These pads stop great with less dust.

Isn't there a problem with some of these pads doing more damage to the rotors? If you are using stock rotors, there aren't many available for replacements.

Dick,

There are some semi-met formulations that are more aggressive on rotors, but probably not on pads made for H-bodies.
