What to use for spare now that I am 5-lug?

I upgraded all the wheels to 5-lug on my 77 Monza hatchback. Obviously can't use the factory spare tire now. I was thinking of using an S10 mini spare? would it fit in the spare tire arch in the hatchback well area? Or is there something else out there? Thanks.

I used a donut spare out of a late '70s/early '80s Malibu. It fit right in the well.

Rereading your post, I note now that you have a Monza hatchback. I had a Vega hatchback. If i remember correctly, the Monza hatchbacks used a inflatable temporary spare in the side well of the rear quarter. I'm not sure if even that donut spare will fit there. Some used a full size spare that was laid in the back under a carpeted vinyl tire cover, held down by a D-ring on the deck.

Some Nova's (and others?, Camaro, Malibu's?) used an inflatable spare with the 5 on 4.75" Bolt Circle but in a14" (x 6" vs 13" x 5" H-Body wheel) if you used S-10 or Camaro rear brakes S-10 front disc this will fit, and it is about 1" bigger in deflated diameter IIRC than the H-Body deflated spare so should [Maybe] fit the spare wheel well and the cover. These are also in the 50 year old range so not necessarily the best long term solution. A custom tool box [wheel shaped and Chris' ["Zeke"] approach will likely [excepting a complete tire shredding/side wall puncture] be easier/better in the end]. Harry

any new solutions for this. I was thinking of buying a 15x4 rim and finding a tire that will fit in the Vega spare tire tub but thought I would check if anyone found a factory spare solution.

I am thinking that "Zeke's" solution is about our only choice at this time. Any factory solutions are 30+ years old now and wouldn't be safe choice. Harry
