Adjustable panhard bar for Monza? Same as camaro or NO again

Postby AussieMonza » Tue Jan 02, 2007 7:21 am

I wouldnt like to purchase an adjustable pan hard rod for the Monza's rear suspension, I find after lowering the car the rear axle assembly seems to be about 1/2" more to the right hand side, so need to bring it back centre.

Do any aftermarket panhard bars fit a monza or do I need to get something spun up?

I don't believe a Camaro bar is the same length. I assume you have the straight bar? There were some adjustable ones on ebay a while ago, but I haven't seen them lately.

I have the curved style and I cut off one end and threaded it for a 1/2", teflon lined Heim joint. works great.

I took my bar to a machinist friend of mine to drill and tap the hole in the end of the arm. It's not exactly easy to drill and tap a nice straight 1/2" hole in a round bar like that, so it was worth it for me to give him a few bucks to do it. Unless you don't mind suspension noise, get yourself a good high quality teflon lined Heim joint. Besides being a very high quality joint, which ypu ant to use in any suspension type situation, it's also nice and quiet vs th lower quality unlined joints. I for one hate suspension nosie, and this worked out very well.

Spacers?

Postby stage169 » Sun Jan 14, 2007 10:15 pm

I would look first at the bracket that is bolted to the body for your panhard bar. Factory adjustments were made adding spacers between the bracket and body. It is possible that there are some in there and removing them might help.

The person that sells the lower rear control arms on ebay also sells an adjustable panhard bar but its a solid set up also. Brian
