Tapered Reamer

Postby Vega75randy » Thu Jan 25, 2007 12:36 am

Would someone PLEASE tell me what size tapered reamer I need to buy? YES there are different sizes. I want to install S-10 ball joints and ream out the stock spindels (80 vented) to use them. Colin has done this before so I'd like to hear from him if he's not too busy.

Thank you

Thanks Chuck. They are a bit pricy for just one job. I'll look around on different sites to find the best price.

Thank you you've been a BIG help :P

try NAPA, or any other automotive/light industrial type shops , we have a store called LORDCO and they have some sizes of taper reamers in stock . and FYI i,m in the machine shop owner and taper reamers are quite expensive so if you want to safe some money try and find a shop that already has one and get them to do the work , a hotrod type fab shop might have them as well . ebay is another source as well , just be sure you know the exact taper you need . the last shop i worked at we had 10 different taper reamers for repairing taper ballstud holes , some where the same degree of taper but the diametor is bigger or smaller .

there is a online tool supply company called KBCTOOLS try them as well .

Tapered Reamers

Hey I found a less expensive place to buy my reamer. XKUT-Reamers are a lot cheaper for NEW reamers of the exact size for S-10 ball joints.
Found the taper/dia size from other sites and went looking.

Waste of money at $120. I think mine was like $30 through uhm.. Wholesale Parts out of Florida, I think.

Unfortunately, I don't know where my reamer is so that I can tell you the part number. I'll look this week for you.
'72 Vega with '93 Camaro LT1/M29 T56/12 bolt 3.31. 16" IROCs all around. Sanderson headers into duals with an H-pipe and Flowmasters. It's loud but at least it's faster than your grandma's Buick. pwned.

Well after giving this a lot of thought, I came to the conclusion that the full S-10 swap would be better in the long run. Thanks for helping me with this. :)
