That's a ADDCO 1" rear swaybar. It won't clear the gear case in the stock location. When you buy one it comes with the plate to mount it.

Thanks for the pix, Chuck. I figured you'd have some good input. I've cooled off a little... LOL. BTW is that a 6.5" rear in yours?

No. I saw that you have an 8.2". I was wondering if Chuck is still using the 6.5".

Bill, i did it just before the wintermonths came. i still have to get it tuned. im estimating the car to have around 420-440whp after a good tune. if i keep it im going to probably get a Fast 90/90 setup and see if i can get someone to make me a full custom exhaust(headers and exhaust)

Yes, that's an Addco rear bar. It came with the plate since it mounts a little differently.

The rear end is a narrowed 8.5" from a '72 Camaro. It has Strange axles and Ford bearings - no c-clips. It's held up to everything I've thrown at it.

The rod ends are Auroras I got at the local race parts shop. They're Teflon-lined, 7/16" center hole with a 7/16" LH and RH threads.

If i add a torque arm to my car would that mean i would have to get rid of my UCA's so the whole setup doesnt bind? the car has 2x3'' boxed tubing down it and im thinking of making a crossbar from side to side and making a mount location on that with a home made torque arm setup. would this be a good idea or no?

Yes, if you install the torque arm you need to lose the UCA's

It's made for a Mustang, but this is a torque arm setup I was thinking to try to adapt:

I like it because it mounts under the driveshaft.

There has been a couple threads talking about addapting or building a custom torque arm:

For that kinda money it's worth considering fabricating your own...

i think i might buy the adjustable "jegster" torque arm for a camaro and weld on custom 1/4'' thick mounting brackets that brace the rear end. do you think 1/4'' is thick enough? or overboard? i think it would be just right. i just have to think how i would set it up in the car. mount the plate in the car first with the best possible spot and then work around that? maybe get the pinion angle just right and calculate just about where it would need to be located(its adjustable so if it was off a little it wouldnt be so bad.

i just had an alternative idea. to use the top 2 bolts and bottom 3 bolts of the rear end cover and 1/4 steel brackets that bolt there and meet just before the yoke and a brace that goes around the center section of the rear end. only other thing is to find a way to bolt that brace to the rear end. maybe make another support comming off the other side. i think i can do this. i have a stock camaro torque arm and i can fab something up using that temporarily and then use the jegster after and mount it to the transmission tunnel. is this a good idea? i know id have to upgrade the bolts and such and make it real sturdy because ill be putting a bit of stress on it. probably only going to run 8'' slicks or maybe a little bigger.

Sounds like a good plan. I've seen a number of 8.8 ford torque arm setups that bolt to the rear cover bolts. I think 1/4" is a little overboard. 1/8" would be fine with some right angles in it.

Maybe you could weld a perch close to the center section on the left axle tube. Then bridge the gap between the perch and the rear cover housing bolts. Or some variation on that... Anybody else?

In the Jeeping world, to eliminate the upper control arms on a Jeep Wrangler TJ (coil spring suspension), they use different types of spreader bars or axle trusses to attach a torque arm to. These can attach to the upper control arm mounts(as pictured below) and to the pumpkin's cover bolts....... to reduce axle wrap...... which blows the ujoints under acceleration in severe articulation.
Not sure if one would fit on top of the diff in an H, but maybe below...... like a swaybar??????
