How to remove rear end brackets?

Postby Sirshredalot » Wed Sep 05, 2007 6:59 pm

Just as the title inplies,

I am planning on removing the brackets for the coil springs and the shock mounts on the rear end so that the next thing that i do will be the Toyota rear end swap (whenever i amy get time to do t...maybe when some vacation time acrues).
How can i cut them off the 7.5" rear without ruining them....are aftermarket ones available?

I will also be fabing a torque arm and torque arm mount on the toyota diff housing.

I will also be planning a rear subframe like the one that protouring vega did in the project journals....so i have some questions for NixvegaGT.

how much and where did you cut your floors to get the frame rails in?
The metal there looks pretty thick and I dont have a plasma cutter or a torch so i ampretty much working with hand tools and a swazall.

The air compressor wont keep up with constant use of the cut off wheel or die grinder.

God bless
Please and thank you

I removed mine the easy way,,I cut the rear up,and then was able to get at them easy with the sawsall and cut off grinder,I lost nothing in the process and they went on the new rear perfect,,
yes there were bracket kits available from comp engineering I believe,,save your money and use elbow grease instead,,,,

Im with you 2lucke,

I aint got the kinda cheese rollin around to buy no con-fangled brackets...lol...(I know thats not proper grammar).

Plus the work that i put into makes it all worth it.

Do you think the stock brackets are up to the task of a wheel standing car? Did you box yours in?

i know when i get em on I'll be nowhere near wheelstand territory ...but hey....a guy can have goals cant he?

God bless
