Adding a rear sway bar

Postby Yellowbird77 » Wed Mar 12, 2008 7:10 pm

I'm considering adding a rear sway bar for my 77 Sunbird, and I was wondering if the mounting hardware is available for it. The rear lower control arms on my Sunbird have the holes drilled out for the sway bar, but I have no hardware to mount the bar with, any suggestions where to get the proper bolts/washers/etc?

I don't know if you'd need them but I'd use grade 8 hardware. I don't know the size off hand but measure the holes and the lenght you need and go to the hardware store. You will want to put spacers inside the control arms so you don't crush them with the bolts.

and the spacers can be as simple as pieces of round or square stock cut to the inside width of the control arms.

There are also shims that were used between the bar and the control arms. I think I can get some of those.......cjbiagi@yahoo.com

I never checked the spacing but I wonder if a tranny mount shim would work?

I have the factory spacers and shims from a set if you need them.
