But, maybe, with the additional outward offset of your rotors you may need a "front" wheel. The front wheels on my Vega have a 4-1/2" backspace (17x7").

Yes, the "Front" wheels are more outboard than the rear to clear the tie rod ends on the IROCs.... that's what the seller told me.
They are clearly marked front/rear on the spokes.

I'm not sure what the additional offset of my rotors will do..... may have to swap the rears to the front!

Those should be a great fit with the right wheel. Might look a little small though. I have 225 on the back of mine.

The offset of the wheel will be important. They should be close to zero offset.

They're Western Wheel Bullets. 13x5.5, universal 4 lug pattern. I think they're pretty sharp looking, and if I wasn't going to eventually switch to 15" wheels, I'd go after these.

As I look forward to a 5 lug conversion I have a dumb question that i didn't see in any of these threads. Is it possible to run different wheel sizes (say 15 on the back and 14 on the front) and adjust the tires with the aspect ratio? The reason i ask is that I am concidering Pontiac Rally II

You can run different wheel sizes that's an easy way to get rake in your stance or level, whatever.

sure, you can do that. The rims diameter is just that, its the tires diameter that plays more of a role. The tire will have a higher sidewall the smaller in diameter rim you use. So using your example, a 14 inch rim will have a slightly higher sidewall then a 15 inch will because the rim is 1 inch smaller in diameter, where as the opposite would be true if you used a 16 inch rim, the sidewall will get shorter. With these cars you cant change the total tire diameter by great amounts because the wheel openings on the fenders are designed for a 13 inch wheel/tire combo, but theres lots of room to improve from stock.

Pontiac rally II's were available in 14x6, 14x7, 15x6, 15x7 all with 5 on 4.75 pattern, they were also in 15x7 with 5 on 5 pattern for the big cars. I had a pair that had been widened to 9" and a pair of 6" wide on my ol' '68 GTO. Wheel Vintiques has them in a variety of sizes new. I have been thinking about Chevy SS wheels, 15x6 and 15x8 for my little coupe.

I'm trying to set my '77 Astre up as a streetable autocross car. I'm still running the mostly stock geometry suspension (I've updated parts and pieces) as I wanted to keep the 4x4" lug pattern, and stock 7.5" rear.

Does anyone (122Vega, this may be your area of expertise) know if a 15x8 wheel with a 3" backspace, wearing 205/50R15 will fit both front & rear? I'm looking at the Bassetts, and that's the style wheel I want to go with.

I have 15X8 zero offset wheels, 4.5 inch backspace with 225/50-15's. On the rear I have a 13/16 inch adapter which changes the back space to roughly 3.625 inches and needed to roll the fender lip for clearance. The fronts just start to rub the plastic inner fender at full lock. Your tire choice is one inch less in diameter so you may be close to working on the front. On the rear with your wheels I think you may hit the outer fender lip, especially on bumps.

My wheels are 4X100 instead of 4X4 bolt circles. I had the front re-drilled through the existing lug holes and used a larger diameter knurled lug that made this possible. I used the adapter on the rear instead of having the axle and brake drum re-drilled.

If you could find some wheels with more backspace, about an inch more, those should work.
