Second gen camaro wheel are the same front and back, you might be thinking of the later "iroc" wheels http://www.nastyz28.com/camaro/camarowheels.html

That's the 3rd gen IROC's and T/A's that had different backspacing front and rear on the 16x8's. Something to do with the rear disc brake clearance. All the 15's on 2nd gen F bodies were the same BS front and rear.

I'm using them.

Hi,
I was looking at a 78-80 camaro this past summer at a cruise night which had the rims pictured in the 80-81 photo in the chart, identified front and rear so i thought they (2nd gens) were all that way.My mistake.I didn't get to talk to the owner.Personally i do want to eventually get I-roc rims for my Vega, so i will need to know which ones will fit.

As mentioned before, the FRONTS are the only ones that will fit. Each wheel will have "Front" or "Rear" cast into the face of the wheel.
As I understand it, all years FRONT will fit fine.... at least the 4.75" backspaced ones.

Check this awesome link out on F-body wheels:
http://www.tacreationsusa.com/camaro_wheels.htm

I have two sets of FRONTS on mine. The REAR ones hit the front tie rod ends when up front as well as the innner fender when in the rear.... gotta use FRONTS
'85-'87 16" FRONTS on front and back on mine

Hi,
Thanks for the info Dwight. Now i know. How much difference is there in the backspacing for the back rims? Are they wider? I am modifying the brace area for disk brakes in the future so i will have a bit more room.

IROC(and GTA) wheels are 16x8 both front & rear. Rears can be used with spacers. Good quality spacers are plenty safe; I see lots of 9,8 and even 7 second cars at the track with them.

I have a 1975 Vega Hatchback and putting a stock 88 S10 rearend under it. I understand the S10 rearend is 1" narrower than the stock Vega. I searched this thread but can't find the info I'm looking for. Anyone have this setup that can tell me the widest tire and wheel combo I could use without rolling the wheel well lip? Backapacing of the wheels? Thanks in advance.

225/50/15 on 15x7 3.5bs outlaw II
275/60/15 on 15x8.5 3.5 BS outlaw II
Did have too roll front edge a tad but I think this was cause I had my swingarms too short. another 1/2" and I think I would have been fine.
S10 spindles in front, 86 3.42 S10 rear axle in back and cut down S10 leafs that were 12.5 in from rear end centering pin too center of lower control arm bolt. Another small issue is my pinion angle wound up pointed way up rather than down as required.
I am building another Monza with same rearend but intend to cut off old leafspring mounts and use after market ones and correct pinion angle. MIGHT even try to redrill centering hole in mounts to see if that helps with tire clearance issues before possibly looking for more springs to cut and drill.

1979 Camaro 15 inch Z28 Rims wit BF Goodrich Radial T/A's, My favorite old school Chevy rim and tire combo since I was 13...We call em "Z's". One day hopefully I can try and fit the 17 inch version to make way for the Corvette brakes :th:

Year/Make/Model of car: 1971 Vega "Z28" Wagon
Rear end type: 76 Monza 7.5 with 2000 Camaro Zexel Torsen, 3.42's, S10 28 spline axles, stock 71 4 link
Brakes (disc or drum): Drum
Width (if known): 7
Rear rim size: Z28 Rims 15 x 7
Rear rim backspacing: idk, fits great Lol
Rear tire profile and size: Current 225/70/15R BF Goodrich Radial T/A's...A little too big although no rubbing. Future 235/60/R15 to better match the new front tires

Front spring: Monza V8
Front spindle used: 2000 Blazer with dual piston brakes, and they just WORK!!
Front rim size: Z28 Rims 15 x 7
Front rim backspacing: idk
Front tire profile and size: Had 225/70/R15 and they would not turn without rubbing. Current 225/60/R15 fits like a glove. Future 17 inch version with Corvette brakes?? What can I say, Imma dreamer

greetings, I have Carls (cacmanjr) buick shyhawk, it came with really wheels 15x6 front, 15x7 rear,
185-65-15 and 215-60-15,
which I really like,
but we all know wheels are like underware, LOL
well I had some 17 in rims sitting in the garage so got some tires, and put em on.
they are showwheels, 17x7 front, 4in BS, and 17x8 rear, 4.25 BS,
I put 205-45-17 ( 7 in tread width) on the front and 225-45-17 rear ( full 8 in tread width)

needed 1/4 spacer in the rear, and everything clears great!

for what its worth, here is a list of all alternate tire sizes for (almost) all vehicles; scroll down, enter your vehicle including the market and engine size on the right, search, click "S" and then when it shows you your vehicles data scroll down almost to the bottom on the right and select 'alternate tire sizes'.

http://www.automobile-catalog.com/

mine, as an example; http://www.automobile-catalog.com/tire/ ... matic.html

cheers.
