s10 brake swap.... adjustable front control arms

Postby astreformula » Sat Jul 15, 2006 12:05 pm

Ended up installing the s10 ball joints on both the upper and the lower. The upper control arms I made adjustable utilizing the same set up as the lowers. Since I had a spare Vega for parts I ended up taking the lower control arm adjustment brackets off and using them for the uppers. I welded up the adjustment hole and reslotted it for the correct upper control arm bolt diameter. The upper bolt I ground down flat on the threaded portion. Next I welded up the adjustment washer hole and reholed it to match the newly shaped upper control arm bolt.
The other adjustment washer I ended up welding it to the bolt head to make it stationary. Now hopefully I've got enough adjustment to correct the negative camber problem after the S10 brake swap. Added insurance I'll be in stalling offset bushings for the upper (contrary to what people have said the offset bushings are still available).

Smart idea. Where did you find the offset bushings?
