Shoot, I forgot to weigh the rotor. I'll get to that soon. It's good to know I'm not alone in needing to clearance the inner brace. I'll be doing that sometime this week. I'll take some pix. Hope that helps.

This may be helpful to some of you attempting this swap: 2000 Blazer Rear Disc Swap (w/ lots of pics, 56K beware)
I've been running this setup on my truck for almost a year now, along with an LS Camaro front brake swap, and I can tell you, it flat out WORKS, I tell people "If you aren't strapped in, I CAN make you kiss the windshield",

Ok I went to the salvage yard and found 4 vehicles with the rear disc brakes. All of them had the 7.5 rear end.
I noticed the calipers were facing forward. Heres what I want to know. Can you swap the brakets side for side
to put the calipers towards the rear of the axle? I noticed other members with the 8.5 s-10 rear and thats how
theirs are.Otherwize I guess i'll keep looking untill I find an 8.5 disc rear end and use the parts off it to be
cetain. Anybody know for sure?

Robert.

I put rear disc from a 83 T/A on my s10.the way I did it was as follows.I can get pics later on
remove axle shafts
remove backing plates
bolt on caliper brackets from donor car,I had too put a spacer and re-drill the brackets too change the clock position of the
caliper due to the leaf spring, the calipers/brackets are the same left and rt and one faced forward one faced rear
had axle flanges turned down on the lathe so they would fit into the rotor
changed proportioning valve to one from the 83 T/A
replumbed with new lines and let it roll

I went to a new salvage yard that opened up in gurnee IL , got all the brake parts right down to the emergency brake cables for 53.00.
The rotors calipers and brake pads even the caliper brackets were new. What a deal, anyways after some bead blasting and painting
I put one side on to check fitment.I will need to make 1/4" shims for things to fit up right. So tomorrow im making them so I can get
rear back in the car to check caliper clearence for the new inner wheelwell gussets I already made but havent welded in yet.I think I
may have to modify them a little bit.So finaly Disc brakes in the Vega 8)

what about any of the aftermarket rear disk kits that fit other 7.5 rears? could they bolt on or be used with minor adjustments?

I sure hope the S10 Blazer setup works cause I just dragged a 2002 rear axle from a 2wd Blazer home for the sum of $150. From everything I have been able to find out it will work. The S10 rear drum axles have to be machined down to fit inside the parking brake assy. so thats why I went with the whole thing. I already have S10 axles and drums on the back and I'm installing S10 brakes in front, already have the spindles and rotors in with Gumms adapters. Real easy to install and I have 15x7 rims with 205x55zr15 tires on all 4 corners, as I'm trying to build a sleeper stayed with same size to look more stock. Will post new info when I put it together.

There's only one thing. You have to make sure the calipers are behind the rear end and not in front of it.
