Just being curious, what is the reason for having the calipers behind the rear instead of in front?

Chuck, there is no room for suspension travel . The calipers would hit the body.

I'm putting LS Camaro front brakes on the Wagon using S-10 spindles with caliper brackets from flynbye.com..... like Rickracer posted for his S-10.

I'd like to keep with the LS Camaro theme for the rear brakes.

Does anyone know if the S-10 housing and H-body housing(7.5") have similar brake mounting holes at the ends? I'm asking because flynbye.com has brackets for LS brakes onto S-10 housings. I'd like to use them on my H-body housing to get LS brakes on the rear.

Anyone know if the housings are the same at the flanges/ends?

the S10 parts bolted right to my h-body housing, but the early s-10s were different i can go look tomorrow i have a spare 88 s10 housing in the garage if memory is right the plate you bolt things to on the s10 housing is taller than the vega one but still has the same 4 bolt holes that the vega has

Lots of good ways/parts/ideas to do it, but nothing is 100% bolt-on for our cars.

Ha ha...hey Dick. I'm great....trying to figure out all the changes to this site.

Car update? Exactly the same place (literally and mechanically) that it has been for the past few years. Just alot of other things going on that have kept me away from it.

But I want to hit a show or two this year, so I'm back on here looking for inspiration. Saw this post about rear discs and decided to see if I could still post a pic. After reading through some of the posts, seeing all of the new members, I imagine some of my stuff is behind the times now!

I thought I had scored big time when I found a 1997 2WD S10 pickup with a posi 8.6 in the local Pull-A-Part for cheap. I also picked up a 2WD Blazer rear disk setup to replace the drums. A bit of cutting and wielding later and I have a great looking disk brake axle ready to bolt in.
Problem: The Blazer rear disk bolted right up and fit the axle perfect, but the floating calipers are too far inboard and hit the "frame". I tried to reverse them side to side and any other monkey motion I could think of. There is just not enough room for those calipers.
I will post any fix I may come up with, still on it. This axle is the exact width of the original 6.5. I am looking to adapt a fixed four piston caliper or maybe just use longer axles in this rear to gain some clearance.

Did you swap the brackets side to side so that the caliper was in the same position as shown in Barebones picture above? His calipers move quite a ways to the inside with the parking brake lever and they still clear the inner well.
