75 Monza Rear Brake Drums

Postby Howler73 » Wed Nov 27, 2013 4:05 pm

Hey guys, I need to rebuild the brakes on all four wheels on my 75 V8 Monza. Surprisingly I can find most of the parts under the correct year at RockAuto.com except for rear brake drums. I can find them in the 76 V8 Monza listing though. Will they fit? I have the original 1975 rear end with only the axles drilled for 5 lugs ( a crazy Mopar pattern I think ) and an Auburn posi with 3.73 gears.

No, the 75's use the small drums and in 76 they went to the larger ones. I might be able to locate some, not sure. cjbiagi@yahoo.com

Ok, I thought that would be the case. Let me pull a drum off to see if it can be turned.

Thanks for the info...

I mention R1 Concepts when people are looking for brake parts only because they seem to have a good selection for H-bodies. I don't know what their availability is. I bought a pair of drilled/slotted rotors and pads from them a few years ago, but never installed them. They look like quality parts. I remember I got the rotors right away, but it was a pretty good wait for the pads back then. Not sure how they are to deal with now, but like I said, they seem to have a good selection for h-bodies.

Clyde, haven't had time to pull a drum yet, got called into work today. I'll shoot you an email as soon as I take a look at those drums. I imagine I should go ahead and replace them but I don't want to put too much money into the brakes as I will eventually be replacing the rear end with the one I got from Jim at JD Race.
