adjustable Front coilovers

Postby Monzamouse » Sun Apr 06, 2014 6:32 pm

I was looking at coilovers and saw a coilover shock at QA1 for a 67 camaro.
I also saw a spring listed for that shock that was made like a beehive 2.5 in.
at the shock and 3.5 id at top which is the same id for a H body pocket.
The spring and shock specs are listed below at summit links.
Take a look and see what you think. They list other springs also as well
as a single and double adjustable shock (GS401 and GD401).
I think the lower control arm would need a little more bracing for the shock.

Thanks for the response chevyart, I have not read many new posts on this but I have
read most of the old posts about the coilovers and I notice some were trying to make an adapter
for the upper spring pocket due to the 3 inch size. I was mostly pointing out that there is a spring out
there that fits the shock and then gets the right size at the top to fit the pocket. I have never seen
this before because most of them are 5 inch or 2.5 inch. I did not realize that people had already run
across this. Thanks for the Info.

HEY MONZAMOUSE REMEMBER TOO, THAT ALL THE FRONT END WEIGHT IS GOING TO BE DISTRIBUTED FROM THE 2 SHOCK ENDS TO THE SMALL AREAS IN THE SPRING POCKETS. BEFORE, WITH THE STOCK SPRINGS, ALL THE WEIGHT WAS DISTRIBUTED AROUND THE WHOLE CIRCUMFRance of the spring pockets. and the shocks were just along for the ride. mayber these areas need a little beefing up. just a thought. i could be wrong. art

I am working on a setup using Ridetech coilovers and springs. Biggest hurdle is getting long enough shock to forgo any bottoming out of shocks. And working on reinforcing plate and mount to work with Monza body and control arms, ie no need for tubular control arms.
