Camaro Torque arm interchangeable?

Postby JimW » Sun May 11, 2014 9:28 am

Can anyone tell me if the torque arm off from a Camaro or Firebird is a the same bolt pattern at the rear as an H-Body? I assume the length is not the same.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Jim. Its not. Not sure what you're looking to do but I have an f body torque arm casted 12 bolt rear in my car and I'm using the stock Vega torque arm. I had to increase the width inside t arm and change bolt hole locations on it plus I shortened about 3" with my tranny set up. In summary not a bolt in replacement but they can be interchanged with a little modification.

Thanks. I'm going to make one. I had thought if the they were the same at the carrier, then I would grab one from the junkyard and use it as a pattern.
Appreciate the help.

Hi Jim,

I have the Camaro torque arm connected to a Cosworth rear end in my 72 Vega. The length was actually correct for the T56 that I have, but the bolt pattern at the diff was wrong. I ended up splicing the diff mount off a Vega torque arm and grafting it to the Camaro. It works, but it was not a direct bolt in.

Cheers,
Tim
