S-10 spindle and caliper measurement..

Postby hoffbug » Thu Jan 15, 2015 9:40 pm

Im trying to figure out what wheels and brakes to run on the DisAstre and need to know the measurement from the center of an S-10 Spindle to the outside of a stock, or a Wilwood D-154, Caliper.
Also helpful would be the distance from the wheel mounting pad to the front side of the caliper (caliper setback)..

What I am running into with a lot of the zero offset 15 x7 " wheels is that they only have about 13" inside diameter right at the mounting flange...

I can pull a wheel off later tonight or tomorrow afternoon when I get home.

It might be a tight fit, the centre to outer calliper measurement is 6-3/8" to 6-1/2" (stock s10 spindles and calliper). Its difficult to judge because the stock callipers have a ridge on them. You could definitely gain 1/16" to 1/8" with some grinding.

As for the offset from the wheel mounting pad to the front side of the calliper is zero, they have two tabs that stick out that sit flush/inline with the surface. If these were removed or grind down you could gain a maximum of 1/8" to the rest of the calliper surface. Also in the top right corner you can see the ridge I mentioned before.

You might have some luck looking on an S10 forum to see if anyone is running the same wheels, I know there are s10's running 14" wheels and the 6-1/2" measurement was the "worst case" that I could measure (might have been angled outward because of the ridge).

Thank so much for helping me out.. Your measurements confirm what I had worked out on paper... I guess its close enough that Ill get one wheel and do some test fitting...

This was the other option I was looking at... replacing the stock calipers with these..

So The tech guy from Centerline told me the wheels I want are 13" inside diameter at the hub mounting pad.. They take a few inches to flare out he said.. If you look at the diagram the calipers do neck down on the outside.. I called a parts store who gave me a figure of 1.25" from the disc to the hub mount flange on an S-10 rotor.. Wilwood says they only need .080" clearance between the wheel and caliper... its going to be close with 15 x7 zero offset wheels...
