Reassembly question

Postby dindin » Mon Feb 16, 2015 11:16 am

I am almost ready to start reassembly on 1975 Vega to get my front end put back together, is it best to fasten everything hand tight then drop it down with engine before I torque it? or is this just for control arms?? ..I have everything off the car now.

If you are using rubber control arm bushings then you need to have the car a normal ride height before tightening the bushings. This prevent you from having the rubber twisted. If you tighten them up before then when you lower the car down the rubber will be in a twisted condition at ride height. I would do the same with the sway bar end links to be sure that you are not preloading the chassis when you tighten the bar. Otherwise everything else should be able to tightened up before hand.
