Power Steering Conversion - again

Postby pcguy » Wed Feb 25, 2015 12:41 pm

Have once again started my search for the parts to convert my 75 V8 Vega to a power steering setup. When I ran the car at the drags, manual steering was ok, but as a touring car, need power steering.

Looking for a photo of 75+- V8 Vega with power steering - have searched the forum and of the only threads I have found with photos, the links are to photobucket and are no longer valid.

Have previously researched this project fairly extensively and found that there are a whole host of GM vehicles that have a compatible pump/steering box.

Also, anyone have any parts for my 75 PS conversion? About to pull the box out and run to the wrecking yard, but I thought I would check with you guys first.

Many thanks,
Nick

Here is one that will replace the small Vega manual box and still use your old pitman arm:

Have done a ton of looking around and have found that the conversion to PS from manual can not only be daunting (no seems to make a specific kit and parts are very hard to identify), but it's also likely that the end result may not be pretty.

Anyone have any photos of a V8 Vega with PS where the end result looks pretty much factory? Looked here on the forum and only found one instance where the end result worked, but it sure wasn't factory looking.

TIA,
Nick
