Best Shocks ???

Postby mainman22 » Fri Mar 06, 2015 1:34 pm

I'm new on here ( 1 ) month. I am doing a 71 HB Vega V8. I'm doing the S10 swap front and rear, Stock A arms, I need to know what the best shocks front and rear would to work the best.

Thanks in advance

I happen to have a brand new pair of Koni rear shocks for a '71 Vega. The lower shock mount on the rears was a one year design. They are pricy but i don't think you'll find another pair, $150 plus shipping. I was going to make a special attachment to use on the later design but never got around to it.

That's a good deal on the Koni's. If you decide on something else then another option is KYB gas shocks. I have these on my Monza and have been happy, some say they are too soft......However, a Vega is a bit lighter so you don't want anything too stiff.

anyone know if this is a correct part number for old koni red front shocks for a vega- koni 80-2145.
Was shock length increased with the deep control arms?

It seems all H bodies use the same front shocks so it doesn't appear there was any change when they went to the deep control arms (which seems odd by the way).

I think what they did was lower the outside part of the pocket the spring sits in but left the center of the pocket the same place.

Just a note that the shocks are sold.

On my 77 Monza I used 94 s10 2wd Monroe Reflex front shocks and 70 Monte Carlo rear Monroe Sensa Tracs.
Handled great and rode good too.
My next iteration of hbody will have Ridetech shocks of some sort.
