Sub Frame Connectors

Postby AGEVSTAR » Fri May 08, 2015 3:27 am

Hi, Im going to install sub frame connectors in my 72 V8 Vega, I found these from Chassis Works

http://www.cachassisworks.com/p-544-sub ... 71-81.aspx

Has any one used them? Or have any thoughts? They are weld in, which would make for a stiffer car for 174.00 plus a day cutting/ welding seems like a good deal to me.
Chassis Works makes great quality parts I just could not find much else like shocks. I could not find a coil over shock in the catalog but it looks like you can custom order them. Has any one tried the chassis works Vari Shocks before.

Thank you

I have those sub-frame connectors. Correct, quite a bit of cutting to fit them. They aren't installed yet though, but should be soon.
For air shocks I have a new pair from Summit. They fit, only 1" longer than stock on the compressed length. Turns out they are the same length as the regular Monroes I bought. I'll sell them if you're interested, I'm going to coilovers.
Let me know.

If you don't want to cut your car, you might consider "overkill racing" as they make Vega subframe connectors also.

Yeah, except, Justin isn't making parts right now. He's busy with his drag stuff, I think. Good for him, but not so good for us. Patience is a virtue.

I got mine from south san Antonio fabrication. I tried alstons before, hated the cutting and slotting required.
with these other guys, you don't have to cut up or slot the floor at all. just level up the car, weld them in and go.
a buddy of mine also order some and drilled holes in them to make them bolt on.
good deal only $135 shipped to your door.

heres a link to their site:
http://www.southsanantoniofab.com/catal ... 550193.htm

they also do custom machining and fabrication. laser cutting / water jet cutting / welding etc.

check them out? I was satisfied 8)

^ Those aren't really going to do anything other lighten your wallet. Just welded on the ends with a long area unsupported by floor and/or welds. ^

Pretty much the same then as any other producer of subframes. I've found success in them, and so have others with noticeable launch difference and a straighter feeling inside while driving. They're universal as well, I've seen people incorporate their drive shafts loops, control arms, roll cage... etc into them. They have their advantages like any other design I guess.

Subframe connectors can give you a stronger place to connect the lower control arms to the body.
The real strength and stiffness come from welding the rails to each other via crossmembers in addition to welding/bolting the rails to the unibody.
Then triangulation with at least a 6 or 8 point roll bar.
