s10 swap

Postby kdsupervega » Fri Jul 10, 2015 4:53 pm

Hi guys & gals, I'm a new member, i just did a s10 swap on my vega, i bought s10 spindles so i thought! Now my tie rods are hitting my 15'' rims. What i bought was g-body spindles, i went on bob gumm 's web site an read his articles on the swap, the casting numbers are 459756 &459755, bob says the g-body spindles are 1'' longer than the vega's. So i thought that was the problem, so i measure the vega's spindle from the center of ball joint to center of tie rod , an it was 6 1/4'' the s10 spindles are 1/2'' longer, so i measure the g- body spindle an got 6 3/4'', so i don't know what's going on! I'm stuck big time, an don't where to turn! I been reading you'lls web site for a while now, an never heard of this problem before. Please help. kdsupervega Thanks for any help.

S10's came with 14" wheels an 15" wheels.
what wheels are you using ?
what brakes ?

I'm using corvet rally 15'' rims , i'm using the s10 dics brakes, an the spindles are stock. I'm using aje upper adjustable control arms, using stock lower arms with bob gumm's ball joint adpter.

I have not done the S10 swap but it sounds like a wheel offset issue. How much additional clearance would you need? Easiest way to gain some clearance is using a wheel spacer.

The bottom and the side of the tie rod is hitting the very out side lip of the rim, an where it 90's back down going in the rim. A 1/4'' wheel spacer i think will work! I don't know how much the s10 spindle is going to make my tires stick out, and the 1/4'' spacer too. My car is back half an has a narrowed rear end, i don't want my front tires to stick out to much more than the rear ones!
