made my own lca ferrule washers

Postby craigrev » Thu Dec 31, 2015 10:31 pm

Spent 3 hours making my own Lower Control Arm Ferrule Washers. I used 5/8" steel washers (actually measures 11/16" bulk from the farm store). I then used 1/2" EMT conduit for the part that goes into the bushing (had to machine the OD to 11/16" with fine stone bench grinder). I chamfered the ID of the washer to accept weld and then ground flat. I think these are going to work very well. :D ImageImage[ImageImageImage

Very nice indeed, I made a couple in a similar manner. Hope they won't be too thick. You know, these ferrules are available new......

I will try installing them today. They are a little thicker (about .020) but my mounting pockets got stretched a little while removing stuck bolts so I don't think it will be an issue. I scoured the Web looking for these ferrules with no success. I was under the impression that these washers were a custom made item. A dealer in KY showed 4 in inventory but could not find them when I called to buy them.

I think those are from Dave's Vega Village.

Yes I got some of those from Dave, notice how he put the little ridges on the flat surface rather than just a flat washer.. I don't remember why he said it was needed.

Those look just like the original! I don't know how I didn't come across those in my search. :bang: oh well.

Dave hasn't done much on eBay and has only had a minimal web site info. I think others have listed some of his parts on this board that they have purchased.
