Anyone recognize these control arms? I know the rear end is from a 72 Chevelle but not sure about the upper and lower control arms.Chevelle? Vega? Fox body Mustang?? I need to knoe. The bushings are shot and the axles are too far forward in the wheelwells. The tires rub on the front of the wheelwells on turns and I want to replace them with adjustables to get it where it belongs. Thanks!

yep stock Vega control arms
what size tires are rubbing ?
the brackets and or upper extensions may not be welded on to the housing in the right place.
how is the pinion angle ?

They're 295/50/15 tires.Wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the axle being too far forward. With worn bushings it pitches just enough to rub.Pinion angle seems good.Probably used the stock Vega perches too and being on a bigger axxle housing put everything forward.Ordering new tubular adj. upper and lower now.Should take care of everything.

The biggest tire I would run with stock rear wheel wells is a 235/60-15 they are 26.1" x 9.50"
any wider and the car must be jacked up quite a bit to keep the tire from rubbing on the outer fender lip.
295/50/15's are 26.65" tall with a 12" section width
Vega control arms are kinda short so the axle swings forward quickly as the car is raised up.
It always helps to replace the bushings especially the lowers as they compress towards each other with age and abuse from a V8 making the lowers get slightly shorter center to center.
adjustable upper control arms may be all you need
You can also get non adjustable lowers made a little longer if you are going to keep those tires and ride height.

You could try using some adjustable control arms from Spohn. They work a treat.

im guessing the brackets were welded onto that rear and both the front and rear bracket bolt points were angled back too much, which would require the whole rear needing to be move forward to allow the stock arms, upper and lower , to reach the front mounting brackets to be bolted in. if that is the case, you would probably max out the threads of the new heim joints to put the rear where you want it, and therefore taking out the adjustability of the new arms. sound logical? art
