deep pocket vs. regular lower control arms

Postby chevyart » Tue Apr 18, 2017 1:57 pm

i have heard that is possible for the front coil springs to come out of the shallow pocket on the 71-74 vegas, and that is why GM changed to the deep pockets in 1975. has anyone ever seen or heard of this happening?. im just curious. I have deep pocket control arms in my 75 vega. thanks art

That's never gonna happen. I'd bet GM engineers just wanted a longer spring in there for obvious reasons.

The shock is going to limit how far the A arms can swing and therefore I don't see anyway the spring can pop out. I agree, it's probably just a matter of being able to install a longer spring.
