hey folks. i would like to know if anyone has successfully adapted larger drum brakes onto their '75 cosworth vega rear axle? if so, what did you do for this swap? i am interested in unbolting the entire existing brake assy. backing plate and all, replace with updated stuff. '76-up h body? thanks.

I did this decades ago on my 75 Monza which had the same small rear Vega brakes. As I recall, it was a bolt on affair if you get the later H body rear backing plate and everything else. The only issue was the center pilot hole on the later H body drums is slightly smaller than the pilot on the rear axle. So I had to file or grind a little material off the center hole on the drum to allow it to slide over the axle. No big deal.......

I did the big brake swap on my 75 Cosworth.
Rather then grind the drum center larger, I put a washer on each stud behind the drum to space it out from the flange a little bit.
Worked OK for me.

Cheers,
