Got under my STARFIRE today to get a good look at things and it looks real good minimal rust which is always a plus . Noticed at one time it had a rear sway bar on it so would like to to put one on it , trouble is I can’t find one anywhere it’s hard to believe that of all the sway bars manufactured for cars over the years there aren’t any that can be retrofitted . I don’t want to spend a fortune on a sway bar and I’m already tired of playing the cant find parts for the h body game ! Any leads or help would be appreciated . Thanks

I can check with some Cosworth Vega owners that may have parts from parted out cars. Might take a couple of days.

Does your firenza still have the front stabilizer bars on the lower control arms? I had always heard these cars will handle funny if only the rear or the fronts are installed, not sure how true that is though.

No the rear bar was optional. The rear bar will make the car more neutral [balanced] than the typical 70's land yacht, or econo-beater, "Funny" definitely by modern standards [especially with the "Bias ply Tires" of the period]. A rear only combo should be scoped out very carefully, that will be a very tail happy
car in a panic stop/turn. If you update your user profile we maybe able to help you locate a bar nearby to you. I will have to check to see if I have any duplicates. Harry

If it had a rear one it at least had a front one. Can you take a picture of the part left on the rear control arm, it is very hard to break a sway bar.

I had one break in the same spot. Luckily I received a few spares when I bought the Vega.

Does anyone have the overall width dimension for the front and rear sway bars? Or pictures of the originals?
After reviewing several posts and seeing the hassles other are having trying to find one I am wondering if other vehicles may work. Has anyone tried a bar from a S-10?
Thanks,
Tom

I believe that Jeff Schwartz used a Blazer rear bar on the Flyin' Turd. You'd have to fab your own frame brackets for the links. I think Jeff used rod ends for the links.

The S10 used rear leaf springs so no lower control arms to bolt the bar too. That is why you would need to fab up brackets and end links.

It's much easier to mount a stock or aftermarket bar for an h-body than try to make something else work. And if you don't have a front bar you'll have a tail-happy car no matter which rear bar you use.
