cast exhaust manifold stud removal

as it says guys,,who has the trick,,I have some v-8 manifolds that need new bolts and two are broken,,tips ,,sugestions,,anyone,,

two are,,others are just rusty and have bad threads,,

you shoud be able to heat up the manifold and unscrew the ones that are not flush. for the ones that are flush, get a good washer and weld the washer to the stud then weld a nut to the washer and then heat up the manifold and use a socket or a wrench to remove the stud. i am assuming you have a welder and tourches

Or drill the broken studs, heat the manifold, use an easy out.

Back in the old days, they would " blow" them out with a cutting torch since the steel would melt before the cast iron leaving the threads intact . My boss at the service station where I worked in the 70's would do it all the time without failure.

That brings back memories. The last time I delt with rusty manifold bolts, the heads were rounded off. This was a replacement engine, and I was using headers. To remove the manifold, I used a BFH to smash it to pieces. After the manifold was "removed", the bolts were only finger tight.
Sounds like you will need to be less barbaric than I was.

That brings back memories. I use to destroy things like that too if I knew I wasn't going to use it and couldn't get it off easily.
