Dashboard Silver Trim Re-finishing

Postby acstestinc » Fri Dec 28, 2007 7:25 pm

Re-finished the silver trim on some areas, that had worn off from use, on my 78 Spyder dash with great results using a Silver "Pilot Super Color" permanent marker.

I was going to ask where you bought that marker but its not likely I'm going to find the same store here. I tried the Office Depot but they just had an extra fine point. Wal Mart=nothing. So I checked out pilot's website. They must have repackaged them. Under "Super Color marker" all they had was black, blue, red, green. However they have Silver and Gold Creative Markers. $3.95+$5.95shipping+$4.00 handling. Next time I'm in town I'll check the crafts store.

Sharpie makes a silver marker too. I'm not sure if it will look the same as the Pilot but it may be easier to find. If you find one buy it and try it out on something else first.

Just keep an extra pen handy because the silver will wear off with time and rubbing etc. I keep one in the glove box for touch-ups at shows etc.

Maybe there is some kind of clear coat product you can paint over with a thin brush on the lines to keep the silver forever without fading, rubbing off or dulling over time???
