Door window trim removal

Postby kgroombr » Sat May 22, 2010 10:16 pm

I found replacement aluminum trim, but the problem is, I don't know how to get it off without damaging it. This is the trim on around the window on the door. I talked to a guy that does body work and he thinks there is a special tool that removes them, but he doesn't have them nor does he know where to get one. Any guess?

Thanks,
Ken

Hey Ken,
Just finished replacing the outer window felt on my 77 Spyder, had to remove the bottom piece of window trim to do this, there were 5 tiny screws along there that had to be dealt with, had to take the window out of the track to tilt it out of the way and got lucky on the middle one, had to use a screwdriver bit and a 1/4" wrench to get that one out. The corner piece towards the front of the window was held in by the bottom and a peg, didn't get to taking off the rest of the trim, oh yeah had to remove the window louver panel piece on the door before i could remove the aluminum trim.

Ken,

Here is a link to an article that I wrote for the CVOA a few years ago.
It should help you out, just take it slow for the first time. Dave Quarterman of "Daves Vega Village" taught me how-to on the phone.
