Headliner repair

Hi everyone, I've looked around the site and got some ideas but nothing specific to my next project. I need to replace the cloth on my headliner, I've seen videos of how to do it once it's out but need to figure out how to get my headliner out without wrecking the seal around the sunroof. Has anyone done this? Is there an easy trick to getting the interior sunroof trim away from the headliner without compromising the sunroof?

Thanks, Rick

OK, so I've figured out how to remove the sunroof, got my headliner fabric on order, now I'm planning how to remove the headliner from the car to replace the cloth. Has anyone who has done this want to pass on some tips to me? Should I remove a door for ease of extraction? Is it a two-man job? Any good curse words for me to practice before I tackle this?

On the assembly line they were put in before the front window went in, but that doesn't help, does it?
I can't guarantee it will work, but try this:
Slide the front passenger seat as far back as it will go.
Slide the driver's seat as far forward as it will go and tip it forward (you may need to hold it in position with a piece of rope).
Let the driver's side of the headliner drop down between the seats.
With the passenger door open, carefully pull the headliner (front first) up and out between the A pillar and the door's window frame.
This is how we used to pull them out of the old Celebrity two doors.

Thanks Ken, I plan to remove both seats prior to starting with the headliner. I guess the main trick is to give myself as much room in the car as possible then try to not fold the board in two!

With the seats out of the way it will be much easier.

I have done both headliners in my hatch and notch but neither had the sunroof.
I did both with the seats out as it makes it much easier.
In your case I believe I would two man it only because the sides will be so narrow along the sunroof and the backer board is kinda a corkboard type of material which was quite rigid on my cars due to the curvature of the board but with that big hole I would be afraid the front could stress the narrow sides enough to break without constant support during the removal process.
