Seat upholstery???

Postby duckblaster67 » Fri Oct 26, 2012 8:01 pm

Does anyone know if the '77 Camaro seats are the same or close enough to use the pre-sown seat upholstery on '77 Monza seats? They look the same!

I believe the Camaro seats are wider, I highly doubt the pre-sewn kit would fit properly.

My Camaro book showed them as 77-81 seat upholstery, but I believe they are actually 78-81 "Custom" Camaro pre-sewn seat upholstery. I took a chance that they were the same since I've worked on a lot of GM cars and know that quite a few of them interchange...plus we don't have anyone local anymore who does upholstery! My gamble was spot on for fit, just a little different stitch pattern is all!

The new one looks smaller because the floor studs are removed from it. I could've got all vinyl covers, but we have a good set of rear seats with the same material. The back seats are definitly different than the Camaro's, but the front's are exactly the same! :th:

Are Vega and Monza seats the same? Would Camaro seat upholstery fit Vega seats? Thanks Dave.

Hi,
I believe vega seats are the ones that camaro seats match, not monza as long as they are the high back buckets.

I ordered mine from ebay, but you can get them from Classic Industries Camaro catalog also. They are listed as "custom" in the catalog, but on ebay you have to look closely at the head rest area for the right ones!

I believe the other style camaro seat upholstry with the rounded head rest would be the same as the Vega seats! The Monzas had the pointy/narrow head rest. Camaros used both depending on the years! Here's what our new ones look like installed in the Monza! :th:

In short, it appears that all the other places on Ebay (Tanraz's Warehouse, Classic Industries Camaro, and Legendary Auto Interiors etc) merely order from Parts Unlimited Inc (PUI) who appear to make ALL the seat parts but do not sell directly to the public. It also appears that we want the 77'-80' Camaro LT Custom ones with the flat top and the Vega guys want the 'standard' Camaro ones with the round tops. Is that correct Oh Ye-Blaster-of-The-Ducks (they musta deserved it eh)?

Also check out ; http://automotiveinteriors.com/seatcovers_unlimited.htm - you can actually input a Monza or Skyhawk etc there. I am also currently waiting for fabric samples from SMS Auto Fabrics which appears very good; http://www.smsautofabrics.com/results.p ... =L&rpp=300 .

Foam parts are available at Classic Industries and it also appears that rear bench/hatchback seats covers and foam are there also.

An excellent find by DuckBlaster indeed.

cheers.

I recieved this today from Parts Unlimited Inc. (PUI) whom appear to make most of the pre-sewn seat skins available on Ebay etc.

"We do not manufacture anything specifically for any of these models. It is possible that standard Camaro upholstery will fit the front seats, but we have been told it’s just a touch bigger than the Monza. We do not have any confirmation of such and there would be no guarantee that they would fit. We will most likely add these lines to our offerings in the future, but the demand for them is so low that it will not be any time soon.

Thanks
Ron"

Should we "create a demand" they might actually make up a set for us ?

So, how many guys here are looking for seat upholstery ? Send your request directly to sales@pui.cc .
