Headlight bezels

Has anyone restored the chrome-like finish on their headlight bezels? Any suggestions?

Plastic can be rechromed but it is expensive. I have seen a new process on shows like Jay Leno and Counting cars where there is a actual spray "paint" that looks really close to chrome but finding someone who has the materials to spray it could be difficult and probably not cheap either. Have you tried finding NOS or good used ones?

I've seen that two part spray-on chrome on My Classic Car and Leno's Garage but haven't found the actual brand. I bought some NOS ones a year ago but they were for another type of car, won't fit onto a Monza. I have two sets to play with testing chrome paints with clear coat, I'm going to see it it comes close.

Other than the 2 part spray recently introduced I have never seen any chrome paint that even comes close. They all end up looking like silver. Good luck.....

On American Restoration Rick (Dale) did that "Corvette" go-kart's bumpers with a Undisclosed chrome paint and it looked great on TV, maybe you could reach out to him for a lead on the product, I doubt that will pay dividends, but an eMail is cheap/free. Here is a link to company nearish here, A friend has used and he was super happy with results and price, he said "way cheaper than" his whole F :censored: d 'Stang dash. Harry http://vacuumorna-metal.com/ go to "Restoration" And here is Rick's site: http://ricksrestorations.com/

Unfortunately the equipment and supplies are pretty expensive I believe (they offer 72 month financing) so if you find a shop who has one of these it's probably still going to cost a few bucks to get something done.

There are films available as well here is a link to company I'm watching (I'm not ready for their product yet). They used to have other finishes as well, must change from time to time. Harry http://www.rvinyl.com/Chrome-Vinyl-Wraps?Attribs=352& And their "Home" Page http://www.rvinyl.com/ Here are some of the "other finishes" I "Spoke" of http://www.rvinyl.com/

Here's a link to the only "chrome" diy kit that I know of.

I don't know how good it is, but I know their plating systems are pretty good. You may want to browse through their site, there might be something else better. Brad

I have two sets of bezels and am willing to fool around with one set. I was thinking of blacking out a set of them(semi-gloss or flat black), has anyone done this? or got an opinion of the look of that around a two-headlight front?

I like the look. Try, if you can, to leave the outer perimeter chrome. It makes for a nice accent, unless you're going for the "boy racer" look.

Chuck that look's good on your car! A very good contrast, accents those reflectors nicely. Now "Enquiring mind(s)" want to know which ones those are. I can't see when I zoom in. Those look like Cibie or Sev Marschal [opps no black box in the centre so SEV is out] Real nice either way Harry

The Cosworth I had came with a set of Cibies. They left with the car, too, though.

I followed CosVega's lead and blacked out my bezels. I think they look good.
