Dwight, if you do go with R's, run a few more events on your street tires first. Kind of gets the kinks worked out. Besides you don't want to hurt R compounds while you're learning. If you have a set of alloy wheels, run them. Through the years, I cracked the centers on 5 GT wheels on R compounds. No problems once I went to Cosworth wheels. To camo that 215, try a mirror in the center of the engine so it looks like a 4 banger.

so how do u think the 2 speed powerglide would do because mine has the 2 speed.?

How prepared is the car? Is it a GT and, if not, does it have sway bars? What size and type tires are you on? The automatic is going to slow you down, but if you're new to this not all that much. It's more fun than you can imagine. There are a few of us that serious autocrossers on this site and will be more than happy to give you some advice. The PG would probably be better than a hydro-matic simply because of the gear spacing.
