24 Hours of LeMons

Postby TJenkins » Tue Jan 12, 2010 9:09 pm

I'm thinking of entering a Monza in a 24 Hours of LeMons event (http://www.24hoursoflemons.com). It is basically an endurance race with a $500 limit on the cost of the car (not including safety equipment). There are quite a few Miata's, BMW's, Mustangs, Camaros, and more. If I put the car on a diet, think an h-body can keep up?

From what I've followed on the event, the hardest thing is making the car survive the 24 hours. One of the Managers in my company has entered it the last couple of years. The first year, he did not finish; last year, they did a trans swap during the course of the race. They did finish, but way down.

Paul Costas who posts here occasionally, has raced in the Lemons. An H body should as well as anythig else since it's a race of survival rather than speed.

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

We just ran our Skyhawk at the Sears Pointless Lemons race in March. The old H-body worked quite well for us and we finished the race. We were down a bit due to black flag penalties (a couple of drivers spun out. Not familiar with the handling of an old live-axle car), but other than that, we turned some really good lap times and the old Buick 3.8 ran strong all weekend.

If you ever feel like you need to dress up for the race I have some BUICK Hawkman pictures. Probably not a good idea. Keep us posted! Brian
