what is the best fiber glass company

Postby starvega » Wed Jan 24, 2018 2:12 am

I am looking to lighten my car a 72 Vega hatchback. Was wondering if anyone has some advice about where to get fiberglass from? the hatchback and possibly the doors. I’d like to keep it street legal but I’d like to lose the weight so I can improve my ET

There are at least half a dozen companies still making fiberglass body parts for Vegas; the only one that pretty well everyone suggests you stay away from is "Showcars Body Parts". Not only for the quality of their product, but the lies they tell in regard to when you will get your parts.
My #1 choice would be Harwood; pricey but good quality

Lots of others-
Now for the bad news- most any fiberglass Vega part you buy is intended for a DRAG CAR. So things like doors and hatches will rattle for sure and not seal out noise, smoke or rain. The "fit & finish" will NOT be show car worthy without some massaging.
The "fleet"-
77 Vega Estate wagon- project(someday)will have TPI305/T-5, S-10 spindles/axles
72 Vega HB Drag Car -383/'Glide/9"(9.35@146.19)(5.94@117.28 1/8th)
76 Vega GT- 400/4spd/9" retired from active duty(rusty)
03 Silverado 2WD ex.cab (work truck/parts hauler)
04 Silverado 2WD ex.cab (retired)
06 Haulin' 20ft enclosed car transporter
93 Suburban- 350/4L60(retired)
00 Saturn SW2- wife's car
01 Saturn SC2- younger son's project
00 Saturn SL2- daughter's car
98 Saturn SW2- spare
and 3 more Saturn "parts cars"
Note- the very act of listing all of these has made me realize I have some kind of problem.....

Spencer for hire thank you. That’s just what I needed and I think I’m going to be on my way to getting the parts I wanted. :th: :th: :th:
