What are you guys running at the track for coolant ? I know they wont let you run antifreeze but I don't want to ruin my new aluminum Radiator or freeze the block ( it does dip below freezing over here) . Racing starts in January and I dont want to rust out my front engine cover either. Doug in Az 8)

Can you some water wetter or something like that? If you have aluminum you may want to put some nickel (I think) in the radiator. It will help prevent electrolysis.

Can't run antifreeze? I've never heard that? I run antifreeze and water 50/50, in addition to water wetter. But when I flush the coolant in a month or so, I'm gonna leave out the water wetter. For some reason, the combination creates a nasty smelling, and ugly looking brown mixture that builds crust around my radiator cap. Doesn't look like a brand new engine/cooling system at all.

Pray you dont get a leak with that antifreeze on the track because they will never let you back in. That is a Big no no and very dangerous to other drivers and a huge pain to remove! Doug in Az 8)

I'm wondering if that is track specific, I've not heard about banning antifreeze, where I race.

There isn't anything about it in the Firebird rules. Maybe just Speedworld?

Ive heard of that too.

Antifreeze if VERY slippery and very non condusive to traction or safety.

I know alot of the drag and asphalt circle track guys cant run antifreeze or very much of it so they run somthing like 10-15% antifreeze with 85-95% water and a bottle ortwo of water wetter.

Never heard anything bad about water wetter.
But acooling system without antifreeze isnt very efficient. water will still boil at 210*...also doesnt have the lubricating effectsforthe water pump and seals. Some guys used to run alcohol in the cooling system but thats old hat. I dunno if thats still allowed but it runs very cool and evaporates quickly. Kinda dangerous though...

God bless

Waterdowned antifreeze will probally do the trick. I remember some kind of "Coolant System" made for drag racers with a special coolant. Walmart brand antifreeze is waterdowned allready so maybe that or Dexacool or different color coolant . Any one know of a brand that isn't green other than Dexacool? Doug in AZ 8)

The Prestone, and peak antifreeze is still green. The bottle is yellow on the Prestone.

I know the parts stores used to sell a product called Zerex for Chyslers. Don't know what color it was though.

I am positive that the new brand of peak and prestone is yellow....at least its not the traditional green like i use in my truck or my monza.

If it is green it is a MUCH lighter green, but it looks yellow to these eyeballs....the stuff that says "mix with any color, all makes, all models".

God bless
