Any one installed a back half in there car?

I was thinking of doing this and wanted to see if anyone hear has all ready done it?

I did it on my 72 Vega with parts from Art Morrison.

I went with the adjustable ladder bar set up. It is primarily a street car so I decided I did not need the inifinite adjustablitity of a four link.

The car has not moved under its own power for years so I cannot attest to any drivablity issues.

Thats nice! What size tires you running and what was the cost of doing it?

We did the work so long ago i can't remember the cost of the parts. I am thinking around $1,500 to $2,000..... that was not including the tires and wheels they were about $600 total. This was in 1989.

The labor was free.....well no monetary cost . It took myself and two friends about 5 or 6 Saturdays to install everything.

Its not 100 % complete. I need to finish the floor and the welds all need to be ground down...amd perhaps some touch up welding too.

I moved to FL right after we did this work and haven't had the time to get back to it!!! Marriage , kids, divorce, 2nd marriage.... a couple of houses oh and did i mention kids? :lol:

I'm digging that paint scheme..
'72 Vega with '93 Camaro LT1/M29 T56/12 bolt 3.31. 16" IROCs all around. Sanderson headers into duals with an H-pipe and Flowmasters. It's loud but at least it's faster than your grandma's Buick. pwned.

Yeah. . .. we've done 5 of them, in the last 5 years. I used a Comp Kit on a Vega Wagon. Ladder Bar set up. . . After everything was said and done, we had about $1800 in parts.

It's a pretty simple set-up. But they don't tell you a damn thing about how to do it. . . .You're pretty much on your own.

Most critical is narrowing your rear end, to make room for the tires you're going to use.

You have to do a lot figuring with what width tires, and back spacing in wheels you're going to use. . . .etc.

I knew I should have made a video when I did it. . .. . .but I didn't. . .

I'm working in SD right now. . . .be back in Mo for T-giving. . . .when I get back, I'll try to take some pic's . . ..possibly PM them to you.

The last time I tried it.. . . . I worked for an hour, and I still couldn't get to make it on this site. . . . .

I build chassis in my garage and have used many different chassis companies. Alston, Chassis engineering, Pully Engineering, Jegs, and even some custom ones. Check out motortopia.com and look for MonzterRacing's garage.

That is my garage. I have a few currently in work one being a friends. I own three Monza's and I just bought a Vega body and cage for my 10 yr old son. Look around in the photo albums there in my garage to find pics of the cars.

I have done ladder bar set ups mainly and one four link. For the street with an automatic I would recommend a ladder bar set up. If you plan on running a high HP motor and getting serious I would recommend the four link but they are not all that helpful until you get so much power you can run in the 8's or lower in the 1/4. We have quite a few ladder bar cars still running low 8's here in NE. 4 links have so many adjustments you could play with compared to the ladder bars. Takes a lttle more time to dial in but much more consistant once there and you can get them to hook up on snot so to speak if you know what you are doing.
