I borrowed this pic from another thread. If you look at the shiny section near the upper shock mount hole that is where the stock a arm hits on mine. It doesnt clear like the tubular one here does.

I will check mine and see what we have,I can fab a adjustable bump stop if i need one,one way or another I'm going to stop the drop,,not all mind you,,,just make it a little less,,I don't want to use chains or the like,,I have some misc poly bump stops from another project that I can cut up if need be,,,I understand I can't take all the drop out or weight transfer will suffer,,,thanks again

2lu,

The shock shouldn't be used to stop your travel, it will damage them.

If you look in this photo, the nut on these limiters was welded to the stock control arm (after drilling a hole). Competition engineering sells limiter kits cheap.

There is a little pad underneath that makes contact.

I can take closer pictures if you like...

The more you limit the travel the less "reactive" jump you will get in the front. This is also a good way to help limit wheelstands (if you want to) :)

I dont understand why you want to limit the front end travel more than it allready is. Are you having big wheelie problems? The A arm on mine hits and limits the travel already. If I remember its 5" of travel.

I think he said he wants to limit the travel because the wheels are folding under abit in an earlier post.

I think if they are folding under something seems wrong.

I am going to jack the car up in the morning and measure the travel,,I'm guessing at least 10 inches,as I said in previous post "not a big wheelie problem" but control is the issue,I have my instant center too far back to worry about big wheelies thats why it skips the front wheels through the 60ft mark without a wheelie bar,the issue is the car twisting up, and handling it to the 330 mark,I know the car is hooking up decent as it spun the tires on the rims, when the wheels are dropped out so far they tuck under,I want to go forward not up,,if I limit the drop a tad more it will transfer all the better,my goal is to hit a 200 shot off the line first time out next year,I built the motor to handle it,why not, just can't go below 10.00 ,I feel the car is pretty well sorted out and now I'm nickle and diming my et,,those screw type limiters from cce with the pad seem the way to go,I will see if the shocks are hitting but think topnx75 is right on that issue,I would have damaged them,,I value all your input here,,thanks

Jack it up and see what you get. 10" seems like alot before the a arm hits but I could be wrong. Been a while since I measured mine. Mine drops till the a arm hits and the wheels stay straight up and down.

Does your car still have a torque arm?

last fall I put video in general discussion of the car making a 10.72 run,no air bags at that time,no rear sway bar,3.90 gear in rear, car spun off line but skipped the tire once or twice to the 60ft anyway, got loose on the 1-2 shift a little,,ran against a 8 sec studebaker,,I'll try to find it,,remember this,,,the car is running a .531 lift street cam, full exhaust, and h-body suspension, not the fastest in the world but lots of fun and cheap to keep it running, three years and 1 tear down, redneck racing th350,nitrous stall,,
Chaeles
ps I can find the post ,,but to bring it forward??? Done,,,I posted to it in general discussion and brought it forward,,,

That vid looks like No front suspension travel. It looks like it hooks then as soon as it gets the front wheel up it unloads. Is the front end still the same set up as that?

this could help,,,
went from v8 springs to v6 in front, from 8.5 slicks to 11.5 slicks, car now hooks and brings drivers front up about 5 inches and pass front skips, space over drivers rear grows very large and passenger rear drops to about 1 inch, went .015 bigger on nos jets also, went from 4200 stall then, down to 3600 stall now, looking for a level launch and less drama to the 330ft mark,we may have to wait untill 1st time out in the spring and run video from front and then rear on launch,,much better to figure it out that way,the 1.44 60ft suggests a 10.30et,car weighs 2980 with me in it,3.70 geared spool, tire 26.4 tall, not using the transbrake, foot launch from about 2200,more track testing would get this worked out, remember,,i just race for fun,,no brackets or such,I like the challenge of wringing every last bit out of a combo before major changes, there's low 10.'s in this setup,,just have to get it out..

thinking on the cam for the other coupe i have,motor is apart 355ci,about 10.4 comp,new heads are assembled,looking for direction,,street,,,or strip,,,car has new 3.42 posi,all stock suspension,no rollbar yet,tci th350 with 2200 stall,looking into a retro fit roller setup,

Drop is a little over 6,,looks like I need to look elsewhere,,as in controling the rear action more,,maybe bringing the lower control arms back up to stock specs,,I have three sets of front/rear springs to try, also 4 diff converters,,my highest being 4400 with current combo, lowest a tci street fighter stalls around 2200 with low hp v-6,,v-8 should push it to 2600,have lots of combos to try and two v-8 cars to do it,I will keep you posted,,
