How Would You, Set It Up ?

Postby Stivan » Sat Sep 19, 2009 5:01 am

This is the last picture, of the Procharger in the "Blue Max". . .. as some have named it here locally.

Being that I'm going back into the 10.0 Index Racing Class, instead of the "Outlaw" stuff, I'm replacing the P/C motor with a smaller choice of weapon.

I've got three choices to draw from, and kinda up in the air about which one to use. Maybe some of you would want to have a say, from preference, or experience, I'm open to suggestions. . . .. Here's my choices that I have on engine stands, ready for completion.

452 BBC - C/O: 4.380 x 3.76, 7.1" GRP Alum Rods, JE-14:1 pistons, Crane .775 In/.746 Ex on 110 Lobe Center, Dart Pro1,345,Alum Hds,Full Port Job, Flowing 454 @ .700 Int/346 @ .700 Exh.

482 BBC - C/O: 4.380 x 4.0, 6.455" GRP Alum Rods, Wiseco 13.2:1 pistons, Comp .720 In/ .720Ex on 114 Lobe Center, Same Choice of Heads.

391 LS1 - C/O: 4.005 x 3.885, Alum Block, Bryant Crank(41 lbs/1.85 rod journals), 6.125 Carrillo Rods,Diamond 13.4:1 pistons w/1.5mm x 1.5mm x 3mm Total Seal Rings, Comp .646 Hyd Roller, 112 Lobe Centers, 303 In/Ex Total Duration, Stock (For Now) L92 Hds, w/Manley Valve Train, 150 lbs on the seats/405 over the nose. Front ignition, GM Intake Manifold, C and S "built" 850 cfm. Engine will be dry sumped, w/vacuum pump.

Back Half of car is 9'', w/Full Pro Mod Suspension set up. I have 4.10, 4.30, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13, 5.56, and 5.83, gear sets. I have a choice of JW Glide (1.82), and TH-400, both w/Trans Brakes. I have several convertors for each.. .

So lI solicit your comments. . .. .. . . how would you . . . ."Set 'er Up" ??????

id go with the LS motor , lighter and just as strong , only dram back is lack of swap parts for the H-body

in fact 1 of the guys runs mid 9's with his LS motor

Yes. . . . I've been thinking, that the 300lbs instant savings, would be an easy way to get .3 right off of the get/go. And I like the uniqueness of it too.

Yeah, that Dude running mid - 9's, has really got his act together. . . .. But I also bet, that it didn't happen instantly with just an engine swap either. That guy has really done his home work. . .. I doubt seriously, if I ever do make it into the nines any time soon with just the LS swap, but I think it will be fun to work my way down to a 10.0, which is where I want to live, anyway.

wasnt saying it would be a instant jump , just saying an impressive car and the LS motor can do

the weight is part of the biggest reasons
