This car was found around the NewYork,Jersey,Pennsey area. The former owner had it for 15 years before we got it 3-4 years ago.We have the original build sheet from SRD(Speed Reaserch Developement)in Malvern,PA but the original owners name had been cut out.The car was acid dipped, foam filled and with A&A glass nose, hood, deck and bumpers. The Chassis was mostly moly with basicly stock front rails that were modified and originaly painted white. The outside had been,in order of appearance, white, candy red with gold base, multi colored stripes all pearls and candies on a yellow to orange blended field, and finally as we got it teal. From magazines of the 70's I've found photos of all sorts of vega's,most being SRD's,but not this one.According to one article about SRD a complete roller could run 35 grand and that was more than a top fueler at the time.If you were to invest that kind of cash i would have to believe the original owner was serious about competing and not just a local track guy.The one photo that I've found online that is the closest was on the georgia drag site, the car is white and lettered up for Barry Setzer driven by Lamar Walden. This is clearly NOT the Little John Buttera car but there are details that would be driver/car specific,it even returned to SRD at some point for updating.
Here are some photos,Any ideas?
