You need some slicks or drag radials to cut that 60 ft time down. Good run though :th: ( smoked the other car by a full second- he had traction problems too!)

Nice little " homemade track" that you guys set up, better than nothing I imagine. :th:

Whats your engine, trans , rearend gear combo?

Hi folks!
We can use these little airfields on some weekends, thats all we got.
Only twice a year theres a real glued track. But unfortunatly thats 300mls from where i live..
I'm running a '69 350 "300hp" with the 041 heads,1.6rockers,brodix intake,700DP an sandersons.TH350 w/ 2700 verter and 3.45 posi(thanks JD!).

Traction is non existant, but on the street thats nothin but fun(LOL).
Never the less im happy that i found this 7x15 rims for the 4 by 4" pattern.
Runnin 175/80R15 and 215/70R15 out back.Only 1/4" space inside in the rear wheelwells!
Even though the rims are zero offset.
My dream is 235/60R15 semi slicks..
I think about sending the back rims out to someone who changes the backspace and rewelds them.
But then i only have this set(fear)!

Doug, please tell me about your cadillac engine.I'm a Cad collector ever since.
425 must be the lightest engine of them all!
I'm a big 500 fan.People just would'nt believe how light and powerful they are!

thanks,
Ollie

The 368 is a little lighter than the 425 which both are still lighter than a SBC. It is a 79 motor with just a 472 intake and a Comp 270H cam. Stock its a 175 Hp motor that ran 14:20's with nothing done to it.

The Intake got me down about to 13.98, the cam 13.71. ( on a hot 108 * day)

We are at about 1600 ft altitude, so it would run about 13.20's on a cool day at sea level.

This is with a 2.73 rear gear and stock stall convertor.

Nothing done to the heads or bottom end ( 100% stock )

Best 60' is 1.90 with roundy round tubeless slicks (21.5" tall x 8" wide - 13" x 6" rim )

If I drop in a 472 or 500 , who knows what it would do. ( probally break something)

Probally do a test and tune soon when it cools down, no funds to compete for points this year :(

Hi Doug!
Sorry,i was out for work in another town.

Say,how do you like the 270H cam?I tried a 274H,that i found dirt cheap on ebay.
But for that kind of radical idle i feel a bit too old(LOL),so back in is the "GM 300hp" that came with the engine. What a hassle..

Well it makes it sound like a race car at least, but for the price, I had no better choice as the heads would need the guides cut down to run anything bigger . 495 lift .(. 500 lift max - the retainer hits the guides) And I was on a cheap budget.

Cadillac cams are retarded from the factory anyways so anything is better than stock. The stock cams are at 112* centerline and the 270H is 110* with gives you that race type idle. I could use a 2000- 2500 stall convertor to help that out as it took forever to get the idle right.

The stock springs are like 90 lbs and that limits rpm anyway. I shift at 4800 anyway so I didnt change the springs as the bottom end of 425 and 368's have alot of bottom end flex due to block meat reduction compared to the 472-500.

I used a 327/350hp cam with Z28 springs in my first car's ( 62 Bel Air) 283 rebuild with good results ( .447 lift ) back in the 70's. It would buzz to 7200 rpm no problem. Power came on at 2000-2500 or so.
I had a 3.36 non posi rear , cast iron Powerglide with a stock convertor, stock 65 4bbl intake , Rochester 4GC carb , dual point distributor and headers .
