Hi, my oil feed is coming from that feed right above the oil filter, I think it is the spot on the trucks to run to an oil cooler. I have the return going into the oil pan on the side near the front. My stall is pretty low, maybe 3000 at the most, you dont need much. The turbo is small compared to some of the bigger engine ones, 70# or so! For easily making 800 at the crank it is pretty light I think!! Its an awesome turbo, you cant even imagine how berzerk its going to be once you get it all done.

have a shot at a cam that is ls1 style with .581 lift 220 dur 114 lsa is said to be a blower/turbo grind, looks sim to speedtechs TU1,new cam 160.00 to the door, did you have to use longer/shorted pushrods? i think i have some .625 lift beehives from another project that i can shim if needed to the right lb open/closed, will buy the cam this week, building will start when it gets here, should be all here by the 1st of the year,
build looks like this so far, parts list
motor 500.00
turbo[new] 278.00
oil pan kit 137.00
intake 268.00
msd 316.00
flex/adapter 77.00
downpipe kit 40.00
balancer 47.00
motor mnts 30.00
alt brkt 97.00
water pump 51.00
starter 35.00
rt manifold 27.00
these are real world current purchases including the shipping, some local, some ebay, but most online,i'm retired and have nothing but time to save money and do a low buck build,,

Good specs on the cam, it is most likely a regrind ,if so dont get it they are supposed to be duds, especially the ones coming out of Plano TX. Read up on them on ls1tech and performancetrucks before getting a regrind. I got burnt on one already, I bought it and figured it out after the fact, just a door stop now.

My e85 dreams are sunk, point has been brought up about availability over the road, power tour and dragstrip travels, guess i'll have to rethink that deal as this car will be a driver, you mix gas/e85 now? now is my time to change gears as i have a nice carb sitting here that just needs the blow thru conversion.,
whats the red contraption with the lines coming out of it left of the carb hat, fuel /boost/regulator all in one??let me know and functions, where to get, what to look for ,thanks

Thats the fuel pressure regulator, just make sure to get one that is for a carb and has a boost inlet so it can raise pressure with the boost

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AEI-13202/ is this one I think. A cheaper alternative that cant quite support as much flow but supposedly is good for up to 600whp or so on gasoline is this one http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MAA-4309/ I had that one on another setup and it works good.

Gasoline is good, less of a pain than e85. e85 is pretty awesome but so hard to get alot of places, plus you have to have a bigger pump and regulator, lines ,etc to flow more of it since alcohol has less energy per volume. If you run pump gas just run around 12psi on the street and put a little race fuel in to run 16psi at the track. 12psi on the street is more than you could ever hook anyway, really 8-10 is about max for me to hook. You could probably run 16psi on pump gas if you backed off timing even.

My car with the stock cam only made 520whp and it was bonkers, had enough power to run high 9s if you had the traction, you could run that power level on pump gas with no worries at all and that small regulator and even a single Walbro 392 probably. Wouldnt hook up on the street at all even at that power level. No real reason to worry about e85 unless you are trying to run low 9s or even in the 8s, if thats the case, just spring for some race fuel at the track.

What turbo did you wind up getting?

merry christmas/great new year to one and all
here are the specs on the turbo, this thing is big,
Compressor Size: Inlet = 4 3/16", Inducer = 68.7MM, Exducer = 97.8 MM, Trim = 69,A/R = 0.66, Intake (ID / OD) = 2.25" / 3.25"
Turbine: Outlet = 4", Turbo flange = T4, Downpipe flange = 3.5" V-band, Inducer = 87.4 MM, Exducer = 77 MM,Trim = 92, A/R = 1.05
very close to the s400,
my buddy who runs turbo buicks is going to try one next season as he now spends 3500+ per turbo and only puts on about 100 track miles a year,

TU1 speed inc cam is the one i went with, new springs and pushrods on the way also, thanks for all your help on the project,,i wil be selling ther complete front drive brackets off the lq4 after the 1st ,,should bring decent money from the resto rat/rod guys on ebay and recoup more funds to spend on the conversion,,

Im in the middle of mini-tubbing mine and fitting 275 drag radials, alot more work than I expected! I have them completely under the car not sticking out at all, so the pesky lower control arms in the way, that is what limits what can be fit, but the 275s do fit all the way under the fender. Hoping to run 9.99 in a few weeks since these will stick really well and my new Dana 44 rear should be able to take it.

im doing a ly6 swap in my astre and ive noticed that most of you are using the corvette drive assembly do you think the f body assembly would work i would rather have the alternator on the bottom.

I am using the F-body accessories, the alternator will be where the steering box is. The only way it will work is if you switch to rack and pinion steering. Do a search for rack and pinion here as there are a lot of thoughts about it, I am still not sure what R&P I will use. :?
