Front suspension updated

Postby buckracer24 » Sat Feb 12, 2011 10:50 am

I've been working on my race car removing the stock control arms and replacing them with tubular ones, the uppers are from speedway motors($25) and the lowers I built myself.i also put a new set of QA1 coil overs on and took out the stock springs and shocks.

Nice work Jody; I already saw a couple of pics of your front suspension on the Maritime Drag Racing board, but it's good to see them here too. I suspect you're the only member from PEI, but I've seen a couple of posts from New Brunswick and there's at least 4 of us from Nova Scotia that are regulars- orangeastre, mbreen kenbob and myself.

Not sure on the turning radius as I don't have the rack mounted yet (had the clamp style rack and now going with the big bushing or mustang 11 style). As for the track width it will be near stock.

thanks for the kind words guys, how is your project coming along Spencer?

here acouple more pics of the other side.

buckracer asked about my project is coming along- if you check my project journal, you will find it "up to date"-which means I've done basically nothing all winter :( I need to get it back on the "front burner"; I probably won't make the first race of the season in May, but I gotta get this thing down the track sometime this year!

Nice, how much caster are you running?
and how much shock travel and wheel travel with the setup?

Thanks for the info, I was just asking what the travel at the wheel is compared to the actual travel of the shock, (motion ratio the wheel travels more that the shock)

What didja do with your Pinto rack? I'm in the middle of a total re-vamp of my Vega, and had thought seriously about going rack and pinion....

Previous owners butchered it pretty bad so I turf it in the trash. I put the mustang 11 style on but I think the pinto style is easier to mount.
