Finally made it to the track last night for the first time in a lil over a year!In that year we made several changes to the car including motor, motor plate,2129's,paint,and front end work.So we didn't really know WHAT to expect.
Sadly, pit chief(wife) was home with a sick crew member(3yr daughter)so I didn't get any good pictures and the video my 13yr step daughter took was from too far away
It was 96 deg and sunny when we 1st got to to the track. My plan for the 1st pass was to foot brake the car and see how it was gonna launch and if it stayed straight, continue on with the pass.I had 8 psi in the slicks and the shift light set at 6500.The car left the line hard and straight,(like I would have lifted anyways ) and never missed a beat down the track. 1st pass was:
60ft 1.65
time 6.92
speed 101.26
For the 2nd pass I dropped the tire's down to 6 1/2psi,set the shift light at 7000,and put a 3600 chip in the 2 step for the transbrake.Again the car left hard, stayed straight, however I may have short shifted as I didn't recall ever seeing the shift light come on.2nd pass:
60ft 1.495
time 6.799
speed 100.89
For the 3rd pass I didn't change anything and basically just wanted to make sure I didn't short shift.3rd pass:
60ft 1.499
time 6.794
speed 101.19
For my 4th and final pass I dropped down to 6psi on the tires, kept the 7000 shift point, and bumped up to a 4200 chip for the brake.4th pass:
60ft 1.498
time 6.788
speed 1.498
To be real honest with ya,I was hoping to have the car running 6.50's but all in all it was a awesome night just to be out there again.Got so many compliments on the car,I started having a hard time getting my head in my helmet!!And the car seems to be consistent and it came home in one piece! I never did take note of my rpm thru the traps, but I do know I'm not hitting second(2spd Glide) till I'm 2/3's down the track.Thinking I need to jump from a 4.56 to a 5.13....................................
