LS Vega last 1/4 mile runs of the year. New PB again

Postby RockDaddy » Sat Oct 13, 2012 11:43 am

Last heads up event is over and I tweaked in a new PB but the 8.40's escaped us.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtD0FpzIMeo

8.51@160.74
8.52@158.57
8.53@158.47
8.53@157.13
8.50@158.43

Best ET was 8.50 and best MPH was 160.74 which was the first and only time the car got into the 160's

Good year overall for sure. Just wait till next year!

That was an 8.23 I believe next to me. Its obvious he was fast but he did get a huge jump on me as it was just qualifying and it didn't matter.

During elimination I got paired up with a car that ran 8.15 but my .0019 light and him getting some tire spin on the hit allowed me to beat him. The round I got knocked out was from a 8.28 car and I also got the jump on him and lost by .05 at the stripe.

The entire 16 car qualifying field was in the 8's. The class is crazy fast for all NA cars. I need more power!

hey rockdaddy. how can you get more power out of that baby of yours.? one thing i noticed, it doesnt even sound that radical when you are staging, and almost looks like its fairly easy to handle around the staging areas and looks fairly easy to handle going down the track.real nice race car art

Well for the engine we are looking at a cam change, bigger of course, and piston change. A little lower compression and different dome design.
This engine was kind of an experiment in a few ways and it really looks like we have 200hp more we can get out of this with the right changes.

I might try a 3 speed trans next year too. I have to see if I can get a TH400 under it without any additional cutting of the floor.

Yeah its not too bad to work with in staging. I do my burnout in high gear and don't really need to give it much pedal at all to get rolling. I think it looks a little more stable than it is but I'm used to it and have worked on the launch and going straight a lot and its really paid off.

The cam now has almost an inch gross lift but it idles pretty well and seems milder than it is. I have been really happy with everything about it but we do need to get closer to the bottom of 8's next year.

hey rockdaddy its hard to believe that you still have another 200 horses to be had. those LS motors seem to have no power limits.i think it was Megavega(Don) who posted some pics on a nice clean, easy way to enlarge the tranny tunnel.(think he was adding a 5 0r 6 speed tranny). keep up the good work art
