Finally got some video of the Vega at track; this one's not too bad. My son shot this with my phone, but there's a better one on the way. His phone does HD and it's way better, but can only be seen by my Facebook friends because I'm tagged in it. I'll get him to put it on Photobucket or YouTube as well so I can post it here.

your videos worked much better than my pics spencer, i should have brought my video camera, i couldnt really zoom in enough from the stands with my other camera.ill bring it next time.

Here's another pass in HD video; the starter saw my son about to record the run from the sidelines and brought him right into the starter's box. Best seat in the house!

Found the timeslip for that run; it was the qualifying pass for Sunday's Super/Pro Eliminator. I went 9.87 on a 9.82 dial and only qualified 20th out of a field of 46. Tough competition around here; the top 4 qualifiers all ran right on their number. Not a great light(.604) but my best 60ft.(1.399) of the weekend. Also MPH was down a bit because I backed out of it instead of going under. Should have stayed in it; would have qualified a bunch better. Still, I went one round before being put out by the eventual winner of the event. The car had gone it's best ever MPH(139.83) on Saturday in less than ideal air(1900-2200ft. D/A and 85% humidity). I wonder what it will do this weekend at the other track that's near sea level?
It's hard to believe I dropped a couple of tenths and picked up a couple of MPH over last year with nothing more than a couple of carb spacers and a hood scoop.

ive heard b4 that those carb spacers will make a difference and also what matereal they are made of,i have a wooden one on the astre about an inch thickmainly to get my breather up into the hood scoop but i did notice a difference using it,they say the wood insulates the carb from the heat of the motor better than the other type. trying a few different thicknesses on your motor might be a good idea just to find that sweet spot the motor likes best and of course getting that extra scoop on and driving the air into the carb will help too especially with it sealed off from underhood heat. got me thinking i might just have to get out my line lock and get it hooked up, dust off my 800 cfm carb and change over to a 700r4 auto and get a pair of slicks!

The two spacers are one 1" custom CNC 4-hole on top of a 3/4" phenolic resin open one. The holes in the custom Armstrong one are tapered out to the square shape of the plenum. My aero hood scoop is open in the back so there's no "ram" effect, but the carb tray is sealed to the underside of the cowl hood to keep the hot underhood air out. After a run, the carburetor is cold to the touch.
Sounds like Fred's got "race fever" form one trip to the track. Awesome!
