327 (four bolt main) aren't they all, I saw someone post lol
full manual TH350 2500 stall
4.56 mini spool in a Ford 9 inch
MT 28x9.50 tires
was told ran 11.70

my actual knowledge is its not a four bolt main
no idea what size motor it is, specs out as 350 block/heads
Posi not working, its a peg legger and had really bad wheel hop
14.0 at 98 mph in 1/4 were the times I got, was really disappointing...

Yeah thats a bummer when it doesn't come close to what you were expecting. What carb, intake, gears, exhaust, timing curve?

It has a Demon 750 Air gap intake and the timing appears to be locked at 40 degrees which means it has no compression I believe.
It had the 1 3/4 inch hooker headers with dynomax mufflers 3 inch pipes.

It's much different now so I am interested to take it to the track again see if I made it slower!
Same motor carb, but smaller 1 1/2 Sanderson Headers, 5 speed manual 3.73 with posi traction 265/35/18 tires

I suspect it will be slower.

If the motor is lower compression and not alot of cubes it may prefer the smaller primary tube headers. The intake in the pic looks to be a big single plane. The Edelbrock RPM air gap is a dual plane style and would probably really wake the motor up down low and mid range. I would double check the timing and verify your get WOT.

Since I started this post figured should update since running my dads Vega. Only got 1 pass in. Went 11.54 at 118.6. Left easy with a 1.80 60 foot. Car has 11.2-11.3 in it no problem.

Suppose I should put my new times in here.
6.86 @ 101 in the 1/8th no nitrous. Calced to 1/4 mile with air density at track that day it's about a 10.4.
Drove it to and from track 20 miles each way.

hey evil: your car is running great. your calculation might be off a bit. that 1/8 mile run would probably equal a high 10.8 or a low 10.9. the only thing your car may be lacking for the 1/4 mile is a better gear ratio to get your car to came through the traps just coming up on the maximum RPM,s where your cam makes it most power, and to make sure it is getting fuel pumped up there at the higher speeds. good luck art

Actually the altitude of the track is pretty high. I spoke to a friend of mine that races there every weekend (in his car and as a driver for two other cars both run 4's in the 1/8th) and he said that was pretty spot on or a little conservative for that track on that day when adjusted for altitude and air density.

hey evl. ill be curious to see what your 1/4 ET's will be. i only made my calculations based on my nova drag car. with old engine it ran a 10.95 in the 1/4 consistently and a 6.94 in the 1/8 mile(same time slip) my car ran very consistent ETs all the time, and i was at ATCO dragstrip in new jersey, and that track is a few feet BELOW sea level.. i hope your nice ride does go the 10.4s in the quarter. thats a nice et for your car. art

Barona Race track is at 1719.2 ft above sea level. It was also a hot day. Around 80F air temp so the track was much hotter.
I'd like to run on a longer track but the closest 1/4 mile track is about 3 hours away in Los Angeles (without a trailer and no traffic).
I doubt I'll ever end up going there.

All i know is I'm a little over 4 tenths away from needing a whole lot more safety gear.

running Sunoco ultra 94 I have ran 5.68 in the 1/8 @ 129 mph have not been pushing power through the 1/4 but it has been in the 9.50 's I am using 3.42 gears and 29.5 slicks with @ 14 psi boost I did miss the tune a little bit near the end of the season and torched some pistons ,next year I'll work more with drag radials because I like to drive to the track and go no taking exhaust off or changing tires. car does cruise down the highway very nice little loud but that's alright.
