Check it out www.cordovadrag.com 9/1/06 picture 2135,,
It took the track to get a decent picture of the car,,about 6ft out from the beam wheels coming down ,tires spinning,,this run was the 11.97 ,thats with #8 cylinder gone,,piston arrived today will be back at the track soon,,looking for 11.50's on the motor,,then we will start with the 50 shot and go up from there,,what do you think it will do with a 150 shot,,the 60ft time on the last run smacks of 11.70's ,with the addition of the behive springs and different jetting we should be able to do at least that,,we will see,,,

picture number

Nice picture. I notice your picture number was 2135. Is that the part number to Chevy Monza Hooker Headers. What a coincedence. Could you please review my 1/4 time. I notice I ran about a second slower but still had a simular M.P.H. to your 11.98 run. Do I have the potential to run High 11's. I believe my 60 is awful. Is that were I should work on. I run with a 26x8 inch slick. I leave at idle to about 1500 RPMS. I also have a turbo 350 full manual 3000 stall converter and 373 gears in the rear with traction bars. I have no wheel spin when I launch. I run a 10 to1 compression 388 stroker 5.7 inch summit pro rods with a 494 lift solid lifter comp cam and brodix aluminum heads, torquer ll intake which is ported. The motor is balance blue printed Etc. I run a holly electric blue pump and run 5.5 pounds of fuel pressure. I also run a HEI with an msd module and accel super coil. Thanks for your time----------------Danfigg

your combo sound great and does suggest 12.10's or there abouts,,my times show I should be running 11.70's,, I started out with the new motor running 12.40's and tuned it down to where we are today,,I will get it down to where it should be this week or next,,my biggest improvements came from these changes,,timing locked at 35 degrees total at 3000rpm,,power braked on the line to 2000rpm then flash the converter at the green,,10 jet changes on the carb to get to 71 primary 80 secondary, checking and making sure that the secondaries are open all the way when the pedal is to the floor, this sounds elementary but with our new combo we found it was not, and picked up 2 tenths on the spot,,
your problem looks like it is in the first 60ft,,you have traction so its not that,,I would start with your launch ,,then go to the carb, you did not say what your runniing for jets, I run rich on the top end, your combo should end up with 71/77,,are you bogging of the line?? if so you need to check your spring in your vaccume diaphram valve, you may need to go a little heavier to slow down the secondaries so they don't flood you out on the starting line,,I recieved a lot of help from the forum and these guys are great,,let me know where this takes you,,

Thanks for the intel. I forgot to mention that I am running an out of the box Edelbrock 750 #1411. I did tune it ,floats, Idle mixture, Etcs. I dont have an advance timing light nor do I know how to time it at 3000 R.P.Ms so I guess I am only setting the base timing not total timing. I am set round 10 degrees. I am running the 2135 hooker headers. Depending on the weather I will be at the Island Dragway meet on Oct 8. I also might got to lebanon Valley speed way which is east of Albany NY. on Sept 24 for a Street tire DOT event. Any other advice will be great. Good luck at Cordova------------------------------------------------------------Danfigg

If you could borrow a timing light from any one,,YOU NEED to time that engine, power time it with someone holding the pedal down untill the tach reads 3000,,reason is that if your curve is off on your distributor, [read,,, coming in at 2400 or 2800 you will know where your total is],,that engine combo should have a base closer to 14 degrees and a total near to 34, you could pick up 3 to 4 tenths with timing alone,,the other way will build heat or detonate and damage pistons or rings,, keep in touch,,
