wheelie bars

Postby danfigg » Wed Sep 13, 2006 12:36 am

I think he needed to keep the wheel straight. They appeared to be turned to the left a launch and when he landed they were still turned left.---Danny

Looks like the motor is working good but I'd say you still have some tuning to do on the chassis Dave.

I'm putting wheelie bars on the 69 this weekend so I don't do the same thing I did with the Vega last year.

new wheelie bars

Postby DDBBCVEGA » Thu Sep 14, 2006 9:47 pm

well we did take care of that problem with some new wheelie bars and we re did the four link geomentry so hopefully I won't have too many trip like this one again

yes I turned the wheels because all I could see was landing on the wall if my wheel had been straight when I landed I would've hit the wall, it was that close, if you watch the footage from the other side of the track it looks like I'm going over the wall

need to launch forward, not upward. It's probably in your 4 link, need to move the CG point back some.

Here is a video of our last launch. Yep, the wheelie bars do help.

yeah - the wheel stands are cool, but coming back down can cause suspension colapse or going into the wall / next lane / other racer's car.

Very cool video -- damn fast vega.

wheels up

Postby DDBBCVEGA » Mon Nov 06, 2006 2:07 pm

it was all fun at the 5.80 index class but since we are moving up to the high 4's the cg will be adjusted to handle the horsepower and the the weight that we are pulling out of the car I need to weigh 2400 lbs with driver and we should make around 1100 hp with one carb no power adders and no less then a 22 degree heads (valve) so no big chiefs etc out of a 565 cid the new block has been ordered and the plan is to have the new engine done an 5 weeks install it, then make new headers then pull it back out and to the dyno for lots of testing . A new tranny and convertor are being build by A-1 with help from marvin (he takes care of alot of the texas pro stock cars already ) here comes some 1.0? sixty foot times :) to be compepitive we need to run in the 4.80's @ 145 range now that the chassis work was done over the last year we are finally ready to start the engine program
we will have a couple new sponnors on the cars next year first and our biggest is dennis faerman which is gonna be building and tuning the engine (if you look in the records in national dragster you will usually find dennis' name in super comp) he has build raymond martins cars for years and they do pretty good the other will be straightline racecars (chassis) if we can work out a deal
life is very busy for me right now with a new job and trying to get this whole program together an not piss off the wife and kids too much but hey if it was easy everyone would do it thanks for all the support from you guys and I'll keep everyone posted as it comes along

new set up

Postby DDBBCVEGA » Wed Nov 08, 2006 1:10 pm

here's a clip of the new set up even though we didn't have time to tune it out you can see its alot better then before it did hit the wheelie bars too hard an pull the right rear tire off the ground but it still went a 1.29 60 foot time as soon as we get the new engine in we will get the cg set up better for some good 60 foot times
