Is there wiring for an electric fuel pump already installed?

Postby straws » Fri Mar 30, 2007 7:48 pm

I am getting ready to go with an electric fuel pump to see if this will aid my vapor lock issue. I know there is a fuse labeled "fuel pump", But I quickly looked in the trunk, but did not see any wiring through the trunk floor.

If there is a factory set of wires, I would just hi-jack it for the new external pump. Any clues or diagrams out there?

Interesting question. What year car and original engine did this have? It's possible that it is tucked up somewhere.

Mine isn't in the trunk floor. Mine runs out of the passenger's quarter panel, underneath, by the fuel tank. There is a big black 3 wire connector that also connects to your fuel sender. Just trace those wires, since you've still gotta have wires to the sender. There will be the sender wire, a ground, and the fuel pump wire. I just used this wire to power my fuel pump.

Monza V8's had them in the tank. Tiny little bullt style pump. I removed this and used a piece of hose clamped to the hanger as a pick up. Not the best idea. This time around I'll be hanging two Walboro 255 lph pumps off the hanger and using an -10 AN supply line with a -6 return.

Wiring in a 30 amp relay isn't a bad idea as the stock Monza/Vega wiring isn't going to supply a large pump with enough current. Make sure you use at least 10ga wire for the pump and relay.
